In 2003, Thangadurai et al. initially reported the fast lithium-ion conduction in garnet structured Li 5 La 3 M 2 O 12 (M = Nb, Ta) [ 10 ]. It exhibited a bulk ionic conductivity with both Nb and Ta doping in the range of ~10 −6 S cm −1 at room temperature.
